A Legacy Born in 1979
In 1979, Grand Master Desmond Loi opened the doors to what would become one of Malaysia's most respected bespoke tailoring houses. Armed with skills honed through years of apprenticeship and an unshakeable belief that true quality demands no shortcuts, Desmond set out to craft suits that would stand apart from the growing tide of factory-produced menswear.
From the very beginning, LANWIN was built on a simple principle: every suit should be crafted entirely by expert hands, from the first measurement to the final stitch. While other tailors began outsourcing their work to factories to save costs, Desmond stayed true to his craft — a commitment that the Loi family maintains to this day.
Over four decades, LANWIN has outfitted generations of Malaysian leaders, executives, barristers, and grooms. The workshop has remained the same — a place where tradition meets precision, and where every garment carries the weight of 40 years of accumulated mastery.
The Next Chapter
Today, the legacy continues through Desmond's sons — Royce and Louis Loi, both 3rd-generation Master Tailors who grew up surrounded by the art of tailoring. Royce joined the business in 2008, and Louis followed in 2009, bringing fresh energy while preserving the technical excellence their father built.
Under their leadership, LANWIN Premier has expanded beyond the traditional showroom experience. The VVIP Discreet Tailoring service now brings the entire bespoke experience to clients' homes and offices across the Klang Valley, serving high-profile executives, diplomats, and industry leaders who value both quality and privacy.
The Ultralight Making technique — a proprietary construction method developed specifically for Malaysia's tropical climate — represents the family's commitment to innovation. It delivers the structure and drape of traditional full-canvas tailoring in a garment that feels impossibly light and breathable.
